Privacy Policy

CleanSwype is designed so your photo library, recognized text, and Smart Analysis results are processed on your device—not on a CleanSwype photo server. This policy also explains the limited information I may receive when you contact me, visit this website, or transact through Apple.

1. Scope and controller

This Privacy Policy applies to the CleanSwype iPhone and iPad application (the “App”), this website, and related support (together, the “Services”). CleanSwype is created, owned, and operated by Oscar Sims, an individual (“I,” “me,” or “my”). I am responsible for personal information I actually receive through the Services. This policy does not govern Apple or a third-party app, website, recipient, or service you choose to use. Their own terms and privacy practices apply.

2. Information processed only on your device

To provide the features you request, CleanSwype may process the following locally. I do not receive this information merely because you use the App:

• Photo content and metadata: permitted photos and screenshots; file type and name; dimensions; creation and modification dates; favorite and screenshot status; album titles; and location coordinates embedded in a photo, when present.
• Smart Analysis data: recognized text, barcode or QR-code contents, broad content and region categories, confidence scores, and compact visual fingerprints used to identify similar or duplicate images.
• Your actions: keep, delete, favorite, move, skip, undo, pending-delete, and collection decisions; review progress; cleanup history; and locally calculated storage estimates.
• Preferences and entitlement state: settings, onboarding status, selected review source, usage counters, and Apple-provided CleanSwype Pro entitlement status.

Local analysis can encounter sensitive material already in your library, such as documents, receipts, health information, private messages, or locations. CleanSwype processes that material only to provide the on-device feature you request. It does not use face recognition to identify people or create biometric identity profiles.

3. Photos permission, iCloud, and library changes

CleanSwype requests Apple Photos access so it can display permitted items and perform actions you choose. You may grant Full Access or Limited Access and may change or revoke access in iOS or iPadOS Settings. With Limited Access, only selected items are available. Revoking access may prevent photo features from working.

If an item is stored in iCloud Photos and is not fully available on the device, iOS or iPadOS may retrieve it from Apple so the App can display or analyze it. That transfer is controlled by Apple and your iCloud settings; I do not receive the item.

When you confirm an action, CleanSwype can ask Apple Photos to favorite, move, or delete an item. Changes may synchronize across devices through iCloud Photos. Apple—not I—controls Recently Deleted, recovery, synchronization, and permanent removal. Review selections carefully and keep any backups you require.

4. Smart Analysis

Smart Analysis uses Apple’s on-device frameworks to recognize text and barcodes, suggest categories, and detect visual similarity. Results are suggestions and can be inaccurate or incomplete. Results are stored in the App’s private local storage. The App attempts to exclude its analysis cache from backups, but Apple controls backup and restore behavior.

5. Sharing, clipboard, maps, and external actions

• Share Privately: when requested, CleanSwype creates a temporary copy and attempts to remove transferable metadata such as embedded location. It does not remove sensitive information visible in the image itself. The original is unchanged. The temporary file is removed when no longer needed, subject to operating-system behavior. A recipient or destination controls any copy it receives.
• Clipboard: if you copy recognized text, it is placed on the system clipboard and may be available to other apps under Apple’s clipboard rules.
• External actions: if you open a detected website, email address, telephone number, QR code, or map location, Apple or the destination service receives information under its own policy. Review detected content before opening it.

6. Information I may receive

Although the App does not send your photo library to me, I may receive limited information through:

• Support and privacy communications: your email address, name if supplied, message, attachments you choose to send, and ordinary email metadata. Do not send private photos or sensitive information unless needed for your request.
• Website delivery and security: my host may process an IP address, browser and device information, requested page, timestamp, referring page, and diagnostic or security events needed to deliver and protect this website. The CleanSwype website does not intentionally set advertising or analytics cookies.
• Apple transactions: Apple processes App Store purchases. The App receives entitlement status through StoreKit, and I may receive aggregated or non-user-identifying sales, financial, and product reports from Apple. I do not receive your full payment-card number.

7. Purposes and legal bases

I use information I receive only as reasonably necessary to answer communications; deliver, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services; administer App Store entitlements; prevent fraud or abuse; comply with law; and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Where a legal basis is required, I rely as appropriate on performance of a contract or steps you request before entering one, my legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Services, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where law requires it. You may withdraw consent prospectively without affecting earlier lawful processing.

8. Retention and deletion

• On-device information remains until you remove it through available App or system controls, reset relevant history or analysis, or uninstall the App, subject to Apple backup and restore behavior.
• Temporary sharing files are removed when no longer needed for the requested share, subject to operating-system behavior and copies already provided to another service or recipient.
• Communications and business records are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve a request, maintain appropriate support and compliance records, prevent abuse, enforce agreements, and meet legal, tax, accounting, or security obligations, then deleted or de-identified where practicable.
• Website logs are retained by me or my host only for the period reasonably needed for delivery, diagnostics, security, and legal compliance, then deleted or aggregated according to operational practices.

9. Disclosure

I do not disclose your photo library or Smart Analysis results because I do not receive them. I may disclose other limited information to hosting, email, and professional providers acting for me; to Apple for functions you use; when you direct a disclosure; when reasonably necessary to comply with valid legal process or protect rights, safety, and security; or in connection with a transfer or sale of the CleanSwype business or assets, subject to applicable law and continued protection.

10. No sale, targeted advertising, or tracking

I do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, serve targeted advertising, or track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. The App contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDK. If these practices change, I will update this policy and provide any notice, choice, or consent required before the change applies.

11. International processing

Support, website, and business information may be processed outside your country. Where required, I use legally recognized safeguards for international transfers. Most App content remains on your device or within Apple services you control and is not transferred to me.

12. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an objection to certain processing; withdraw consent; appeal a decision; or complain to a privacy regulator. You will not be discriminated against for exercising a privacy right.

Because CleanSwype has no developer-operated account or photo server, I ordinarily cannot access, export, correct, or delete App content stored only on your device. Control it through the App, Apple Photos, system Settings, or by uninstalling. For information I do hold, email [email protected]. I may verify your request and may retain information where law permits or requires. An authorized agent may submit a request where local law allows.

California residents may request information about covered categories and disclosures and may request access, correction, or deletion, subject to statutory scope and exceptions. Because I do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, no opt-out of those practices is necessary.

13. Children

CleanSwype is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 or a higher minimum age required locally. The App has no account system. A child should not contact me or send attachments without a parent or guardian. If you believe a child provided personal information to me, contact me so I can take appropriate action.

14. Security

I use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the limited information I handle. No device, transmission, storage system, or security measure is completely secure. Protect your device, Apple Account, backups, and sharing recipients.

15. Changes

I may update this policy when the App, law, or my operations change. I will post the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required. Material changes apply prospectively unless law permits otherwise.
